Nice scenic views. I was told this walk would take 3 hours. It was very hot and sunny with minimal shade. Trail was not well marked and often was slanted and had difficult footing. I started on the c… NatureExplorerGal的完整评论

There’s not much wildlife left in New Zealand, the country of a million chainsaws, but to have a footpath going through a seal colony defies belief, just so yet more tourists can post yet more photos… AliMarriott66的完整评论

Amazing views, distressing to see dead seal pups, starved by the looks. Also several tourists getting way to close to get their picture taken with a seal. The seals here are not safe from people. Andrea S的完整评论

Not sure about Ohau walkway, but quite possible after the earthquake. The place I started on the walkway was at the Port Kean viewpoint (there's a car park near there to drive up to so you can start the walk). I heard the other end of the walkway starts in town somewhere - but I didn't complete the entire walk, so I'm not sure.

Good day, I will be driving from Blenheim to Christchurch and was wanting to stop in Kaikoura for a day or for a walk. Perhaps the Peninsula Walkway. Question please: 1. Does it cost to do the walk and 2. How long does it normally take to do the walk and enjoy the animals? AND, if we decide to stay in Kaikoura for the night, where might we look? Thanks so much DMH

HI there...you will love your trip to Kaikoura. Like the lyrics in the song by Crowded House...NZ is 4 seasons in one day. Your days are set and you can't control the weather, so just relax and enjoy. We started our peninsula walk from in town...we grabbed a coffee and a snack then just headed off on a nice walk.

You've probably already been and found out for yourself that most of the track (apart from a side track descending to the beach at Whaler's Cove) is fine with a pram, so I'm answering for other people who might read this. From South Bay there is a section that is fully wheelchair accessible, but I don't remember there being steps coming up the other side, from Point Kean. If there were they were long low rise ones on a paved surface that you'd manage easily.
