When we asked our driver about New Year’s Day, he said the attraction was open. Sri Lanka people are mostly Buddhist but there are many Hindu, Catholics and some Muslims. It all depends on the region. I searched for operating hours (approx 7:30 am until 6 pm) but there were no websites that gave info on which days the attraction is “not open”. If you are using a tour company, I suggest asking them as they may have access to “inside information” that the general public is not privy to. Enjoy your trip!
