Window frames and other details are done in Douglas fir, the walls in a thin veneer, “which gives a very robust surface that patinas beautifully.” Note also the wrap-around sofa and bookshelves.

The B.C. government is now allowing one of the last small patches of coastal Douglas fir forest in existence to be logged. This is happening near Nanoose Bay in a cutblock known as DL 33.
