All stents were placed beyond the tumor stenosis, at least 10 mm from the proximal and distal ends. Mean duration of the procedure was 28 min. Mean inpatient stay after stenting was 3.2 ± 1 days.

Eleven patients presented with recurrent dysphagia 4 16 weeks after stenting due to tumor overgrowth and were treated with placement of a second stent. The median survival time was 18 weeks.
