Travis County Attorney Delia Garza previously dismissed all criminal trespassing charges for demonstrators arrested during April 24 and April 29 pro-Palestinian protests at UT – more than 130 total – due to lack of evidence and likelihood of succeeding.

AUSTIN, Texas — In November of 2024, a Travis County judge dismissed a case against Richard Heyman, a former University of Texas at Austin lecturer charged with Interfering with Public Duties. The case stemmed from an interaction with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers during the April 2024 pro-Palestine protests on UT's campus.

A Travis County judge Monday agreed to grant a lawyer's motion to dismiss, which argued prosecutors failed to get an indictment against the former lecturer within the timeframe required by state law.
