This wire has flux built in like 7018 and uses a gaseous shield, usually by C02 or a argon co2mix. There are numerous options of what brand size and type of gas to use.

The 7018 low hydrogen rod will absorb 80% of all the moisture it can in a 24 hour period after opening the tube. If you want to keep 10 lbs dry after opening, make a small oven. Use an old ice cooler-not styrofoam!!! Insert a 40 watt bulb or small heat lamp. In go the rods, down goes the lid. Don't laugh it works well.

2004年3月9日 · 7018's work best when warmed, it removes the moisture content from the rod coating. Most certifications done with the 7018's require the rod to be 180 degrees before welding. The reason is that the coating on the rods absorbs moisture quickly in fact a 7018 will absorb 80% of it's capability within the first 24 hours.
