A hemicellulose (also known as polyose) is one of a number of heteropolymers (matrix polysaccharides), such as arabinoxylans, present along with cellulose in almost all terrestrial plant cell walls. [1] Cellulose is crystalline, strong, and resistant to hydrolysis.
