Micah is universally hated, but unanimously hated for the same reason. Because the character is a huge prick to the protagonist in a way that makes the fanbase angry enough to viscerally hate him. That takes great writing, and for that writing to be performed well.

Micah literally told Dutch about the money on the ferry, and changed the plan from low key robberies to a full on heist on the ferry. The fact Dutch met Micah right before the heist is too suspicious to be coincidence. The setup from Micah was the cops swarming the boat to get Dutch; not the money entirely.
