Born in Chicago, she was a New Yorker who founded the Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (WONPR). The Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (WONPR) was founded in 1929 by a group of women led by Pauline Sabin, a wealthy and politically-connected socialite. Within a year, the organization attracted over 100,000 members, and by 1932 it had 600,000 members -- more even than the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment.
