2019年4月13日 · So, I changed the carb on the MS 170, and expanded the muffler opening a bit. Now, I can't get the saw started. I tried giving the saw sniffs of carb cleaner to get it going. However, it wouldn't even stutter. I have spark, the air filter is new. I cleaned the case all up. fuel lines seem to be ok.

I told him about the new weed-eaters coming to the AS battery line as well as the TS 910i and TS 710i when he told me that the MS 170 would be discontinued for emissions reasons and be replaced by the MS 162, 172, 182, and 212.

2018年12月17日 · Here's the problem, the stihl setting gage seems to set the air gap too tight, like 0.004" measured between the ignition module arms and the flywheel magnets using a feeler gage set. It seems as though the center coil pick up on the ignition module has a wider air gap. Now my question, what is the proper way to measure an ignition module air gap?

2007年1月3日 · To answer your question based on my pirated info for Stihl saw specs that I got off the internet for an ms 170 is 2800rpm idle , 14,000 rpm max. I never worked on an ms170/017 till recently when I was assigned the task of making a runner from basically one complete junker and two donor saws.

2009年5月20日 · The 170 and 180 are little more than Echo saws with a creamsicle paint job. If you're going to spend the money, do it right! Look instead at the Dolmar PS-401. It's the same weight as a 180, but it's 39cc instead of 32cc (or the 30cc of the anemic 170.)

2014年11月3日 · What I didn't like about the MS 171 was: 1)Higher price 2)A pound heavier 3)Same exact hp rating 4)Flippy caps I talked to a local dealer that stocks the most Stihl equipment in my area. Best selling Stihl chain saw for them is still the MS 170.
