2020年8月1日 · Violists can be divas too! I've met a lot of violists who castigate other musicians, especially violinists. I've also met violists who just can't get along with the rest of the strings. We chose a support instrument, but some violists act like its all about them. I just think its all childish.
Need some good affordable viola recommendations please!
2023年12月30日 · The problem with the used private market is that it's a niche market. Just how many violists are there in your area, and of that small number, how many are selling their old instruments? Unless you're in a huge city, it's going to be hard, and you'd still probably want to have a luthier check the instrument.

You probably checked if your viola is open at the seams, but it is a possibility. It could also need adjustment. If you go to a good luthier they will know things to try.

So, as the accompaignement was always easier to play than the primo or 2nd voice, bad violinists were "downgraded" to violists. Therefore the joke that violists are just bad violinists still remains.

2021年7月27日 · Violists love a big sound! But we ideally don't want to hurt ourselves with a big instrument to get it. By adding volume to the soundbox on the part the left-hand doesn't have to use, the viola can make a bigger sound and the player doesn't have to struggle with an instrument that is bigger all around.
