Published: 10 October 2024. A new report by the joint Government-industry Floating Offshore Wind Taskforce highlights the potential of floating wind energy in the UK. The report states that the floating wind industry could employ 97,000 people by 2050, particularly in Scottish and Welsh ports, and contribute £47 billion to the economy.

X1 Wind has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with mooring line manufacturer FibreMax. X1 Wind’s floating wind solution features passive weathervaning and self-orientation capabilities, achieved through the integration of a Single Point Mooring (SPM) system with a small tension leg platform (TLP) mooring system.

Vaisala has announced its participation in the latest Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion (WiSP 3) project, a joint industry collaboration initiated by the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) to advance wind-assisted shipping as a solution for reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency in the maritime industry.
