If they're replacing the wire from the weatherhead to the meter, just tell them to use 200A wire (pay the difference if you have to - it will be in the tens of dollars). Then you can upgrade the panel yourself - it's very easy. Even replacing the service wire is easy yourself.

2019年10月25日 · Now that the pictures are resized I see there is no main breaker outside, it is in the inside panel. You can use 4/0-4/0-2/0 SEU cable from the feed-thru-lugs to feed the inside main breaker panel. You also should check with your AHJ about which neutral bus they want the Grounding Electrode Conductor to be terminated on.

2012年1月26日 · Was at the electric supply checking on prices for wire and supplies and they said I should use 4/0-4/0-2/0-#2 wire for a 200 amp sub panel. Makes sense since my main disconnect is only 4/0-4/0-2/0 and I have to install a ground at the sub panel and seperate neutral and ground. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

2010年10月24日 · 3370 posts · Joined 2008. #2 · Oct 25, 2010. In most cases, a "service entrance" uses a 3-wire (type SEU) cable. This is up to the first disconnect at or after the meter box. From there, any sub-feed to a sub-panel must use a 4-wire (type SER) cable. A separate equipment grounding bar is needed for the 4th wire.

2014年7月24日 · Replacing an old (undersized) breaker panel inside house and have to run a new service entrance cable to the new 200 amp panel. The inside panel is really a sub-panel since there is a main disconnect panel right next to the power meter outside. Here is a picture of the main disconnect located next to the power meter on the outside of the house.

2003年2月24日 · DO USE the bonding screw on the neutral bar. When (and if) you upgrade in the future, Install a new 200A meter base with a 200A Service Main outside and then run a 4-wire SER cable in to the 200A panel. Remove the bonding screw and hook up the ground to the ground bar and the neutral to the neutral bar.
