Re-decking a Trailer? - Pirate 4x4
2014年10月23日 · Just re decked my lowboy with Home Depot Doug fir 2x6's. Went with a floating deck and stained it with Thompson water seal. So far so good, very little warping and holding up just fine. Cost me $200 to deck a 29 foot belly. Our other lowboy had rough cut 2 x 12's and they warped all to shit and split in the middle after a couple of loads.

Or if it's just the 2x4's that are in the way, leave the 2x6's in place and remove the diagonal 2x4's and make them vertical and connect them to the roof framing. If you haven't than you are talking out your ass. I have and say 2 pcs of 3/4" plywood would be plenty strong for any trailer use with trucks on it.

2013年11月18日 · The spacing on the tripled up 2x12 beam (with 2 1/2" plywood spacers) is just under 11.5'. Also planning on going with #1 yellow pine for a little extra support. Splices on the beam will be fully supported by the 6x6 post. Stairs will go between the 2 posts on the right.

2014年8月25日 · If you leave a 1/4" gap it will be 1/2" eventually. Use a good oil based paint on them to seal them up. Don't fall for the "used motor oil" it makes a fucking mess and stinks to hell. I coat my deck with rustoleum oil based after a light sand every few years and it's holding up great. It also looks good too.

2012年11月20日 · If you are dead set on a pole building, for sure diagonal bracing in all of the corners. Make sure you require this be done or your shear strength is crap. A much better option is stick frame with 2x6 and osb the entire exterior. Trusses 2ft. on center and sheath the entire roof before the metal.
