网页2007年3月2日 · I have an amd 64 desktop. I installed Fedora Core 5 64-bit last year and Fedora Core 6 64-bit this year. Both were no brainers, no work, instant results including recognizing my printer. I chose the KDE desktop-much better calculator-although navigating to grub to keep XP recovery from booting was a little easier in gnome.

网页2009年2月3日 · I thought about it but I have reservations about any fork/port of Slackware unless Pat blesses it. I guess I have to figure out whether Qemu, VMWare, Xen, etc have true 64 bit versions or can be compiled in 64 bit mode. I don't want the complexity of having a 32 bit tree in there.

There is also usually not much performance difference between a 32-bit versus 64-bit OS on the same hardware. I think that 32-bit Linux distros are still a better choice than 64-bit, but that's only my opinion.
