2014年5月22日 · Lechatelierite belongs to inhomogeneities in moldavites. It is a particle of pure quartz glass (lechatelierite contains 99% of SiO2.) made by melting quartz mineral grains. Its grains are usually elongated and often twisted. Lechatelierite is more resistent to etching than surrounding glass (about 120 times higher resistance).

Czech moldavites have more solid inclusions than Moravian ones. Solid inclusions are irregular grains of 0·1–1·0 mm dia. These grains are lechatelierite (Babnes, 1940). The adjacent moldavite glass is anisotropic around grains of lechatelierite. In a Czech moldavite of average size we can detect about 3–5 grains of lechatelierite.
