US fest in 1982 and 1983 were both larger than Live Aid (Philly & London combined). It's sad that even my own generation forgets about the US Festival. Truth is that the US Fest was more like Woodstock (250k+, camping, multi day in a rural area). It wasn't pretending to save the world, although there was a satellite link to the USSR.

The smog over the skyline reminds me of how hideously hot it was the day of Live Aid and where I was when it was happening: 50 miles away, at home, in the air conditioning. A lot of cool events there, no lie: but the facility itself was long overdue for the wrecking ball.

2021年8月1日 · As pennance, I will offer this tidbit- Live Aid REALLY wanted NYC for their 'American Concert', but IIRC, the only available venue was Shea Stadium, and the Mets were NOT interested in giving up the stadium (they won the World Series that year- 86 was the year of the Bill Buckner fuckup). So, Philly was chosen as a 'backup'.

2021年8月26日 · Maybe I'm biased because I associate Radio Gaga as a song regardless with special memories, but I sincerely believe that Queen's performance of Radio Gaga at Live Aid is the single greatest live performance in history. The way Freddie had that crowd on the palm of hands, controlling them with every action. I still get goosebumps.
Best Philly suburbs/areas to live (family oriented)
Most Philly suburbs will fit your criteria with the exception of new housing. I think the primary differentiator is going to be budget. If you’re starting completely from scratch, I’d investigate the following suburbs with “Main Street / downtown” appeal, and build out from there:

It was personally embarrassing how excited I was for my “favorite band of all time” (still is, btw)… then to watch that absolute train wreck of a performance. As a fan, you wanted to blame the Live Aid organizers, but as a fan, you knew—really knew—Led Zeppelin blew it. Royally f-cked it up. Plant’s voice was too raw, for example.
Can’t find a definitive answer.. Why didn’t Bruce play Live Aid?
2023年7月16日 · There's a list of "biggest acts who didn't participate in Live AID" which includes Bruce, Michael Jackson, Prince, Cyndi Lauper, probably more. It's one of those big what-ifs. Bruce was one of the biggest rock stars in the world that year. So if he performed at Live AID, maybe that would've made him even more iconic.
