Apr 7, 2011 · The manual for the Millermatic 200 does NOT give any info on shielding gas adjustments. All it says is that different gas mixtures have different requirments as far as pressure and flow. This is a good source of info.

Mar 8, 2008 · Excessive gas flow will not cause spatter, but it will burn up you wallet a lot faster. For CO2 15-20 cfh, if you are using mix gas or argon for short circuting somewhere between 25-35 cfh is a good starting point. If you want to get into spray transfer you are looking at a range of 45-55 cfh, as the arc is trasfered through the shielding gas only.
At what PSI should I set the regulator for MIG?
Mar 28, 2005 · If you're talking regulator (unrestricted low pressure outlet) vs. flowguage/meter (.032 orfice in dischsrge) I think I'd start around 6 PSI. That should be about 18SCFH on a flow meter. If you set the regulator at 20 - 25 PSI, the wind will knock over your workpiece. That's where I set my cutting oxygen. Hank

Sep 25, 2013 · On a normal gas regulator, (ie. Acetylene) there are two gauges. One for tank pressure, other for line pressure. On a Mig regulator, there is tank pressure gauge and a flow meter. We get many questions about setting MIG gas pressure. Unlike with oxyfuel welding with MIG (or TIG) “flow” is set NOT pressure. Here is why: Having been in the welding business for over 40 years and having managed an R&D lab for a major industrial gas company, setting the proper gas “flow” is not well documented.
MM252 Recommended Mig settings for 3/16" steel joints?

Dec 12, 2016 · OK, got back in the garage Miller settings as recommend were 16.2 volts at 330 wfs , not useable... 17volts at 200 wfs to 18volts to 250 wfs is what seemed to work. Pretty far off from chart or machine. Anyone have similar settings with .023 or settings on 16 gauge from similar mig machine (millermatic, etc) Sandy

I have a 2020 Millermatic 211 and am working with gas shielded flux core Kiswel E71T-1C/1M .045 and gas shielded Stainless Steel Flux Cored Wire E308LT1 .035. I have done OK at dialing in the settings myeself. But it would be helpful if there was a reference for situations not listed on the welder door to help with getting started.

Jun 17, 2023 · Typical flow rate for CO2 shielding gas and MIG (GMAW) welding is 15 to 30 CFH (cubic feet per hour) and mixed gas is 25 to 45 CFH. Typical flow rate for Argon shielding gas and TIG (GTAW) welding is 15 to 25 CFH and aluminum MIG (GMAW) welding is 35 to 45 CFH. Check wire manufacturer’s recommended flow rate.
