2013年8月13日 · I did also passivate part of a kettle onto which I etched volume markings using the acid+electricity method. I soaked a kitchen paper in citric acid solution and slapped it on the etched area. Again, it probably did exactly nothing, but there's no sign of rust on the kettle, so at least it didn't significantly make it worse.

2014年11月5日 · It will partially passivate, but not where the bits of surface iron are. Citric acid is a chelating agent which selectively removes iron from stainless to form iron citrate in solution. This leaves behind a chromium enriched layer on the stainless which interacts with the air to form chromium oxide - the passive layer.

2012年2月26日 · That says 4-10% to passivate. Maybe you should just pick up some bar keepers friend. You could us it as directed and just scrub the welded areas really good clean light duty scrub pad. I would use a fresh one so you don't put any detrimental materials into the stainless. I wouldn't think that would screw with your sight glass.
