The dentist who pulled the tooth suggested that I should not just leave the gap in my mouth, but I'm unsure of what I should do next. I can't get a bridge, because it was the last molar on that side (thus there's no tooth behind it to attach the bridge to).

The same isn't true between the first and second molar, so you should have no knock-on effects so to speak 2. Don't do anything (i.e. leave a gap) would be the most common one.

2018年6月25日 · I am missing a lower 1st molar and the opposing upper molar has started to Supraerupt and it will need to be removed. My lower 2nd molar has also now started to shift slightly. I am going to be getting implants on the lower and upper 1st molars. Although I know people that have their lower 1st molar out and they haven't had any problems.
