Best to replace it due the water can get into the sheating and water can go down to breakerbox or fuse box and can do some damage from that. It is pretty much SOP to just change it to new one or run new one in conduit ( this what I rather do this in most case ) and be done with it..

The restriction is no more than 5' of seu or conduit exposed or concealed unfused out here, some often get a unwritten pass thru a crawlspace ( strapping se cable to bottom of joist) .

2017年10月20日 · I'm a little confused here. I've only seen 3 wire service entrance cables to residential panels. In the main panel I understand the ground and neutral are connected. I've seen a 4 wire main residential panel on a site and the neutral and ground were separated. Are the connected somewhere else, such as meter base or transformer? Thanks

I thought about running it in conduit, but SER cable is super cheap. 334.15 (C) states you can run nm cable that is 8/3 or larger on the bottom of joists. I'm wondering if I can run the cable perpendicular to the wall studs at a height that would protect it from any physical damage.
