The only reason why Sonic wasn’t defeated is because in the first season’s finale, Shadow decided to leave him alone and the second season’s finale, if I remember right, Shadow was winning and only left Sonic alone because Sonic implied that Eggman framed Him.

In Forces, Sonic and Shadow seem to be equal in power, while Silver is a pathetic runt who got onetapped by a noname generic LV1 rpg enemy looking idiot. Sonic in Adventure 2 could use the Chaos Control through a fake Chaos Emerald, but since then he hasn't replicated the feat (afaik) without going Super.
