Is it possible to sand the primer coat (tamiya primer, or duplicolor grey auto primer) TOO much? i.e., sanding to a very smooth surface - say, 3200 grit sandpaper - can this negatively affect paint topcoats adhesion? (using tamiya TS spray cans)

After the primer was in the pop can, I used a metal rod to stir continously until no more gas bubbles coming out. First experience is good, and saves a lot of primer by using airbrush. 2004年4月18日 · duplicolor primer works great. testors spray cans are crap. if you want a great finsih from a spray can then buy duplicolor or tamiya. testors detail jar paints are really good. i use them for my airbrush and dry nice. just have to thinn them to milk

2007年3月22日 · When the Tamiya can seems empty (no more gas pressure) I remove the top using cutters to extract the last of the paint (there's usually a useful bit in there, and I often get a lot of primer this way). Beware - you have to lift a small edge carefully and wait, because even a "dead can" still has some life here.

2001年12月6日 · No, always spray over the primer with a colour, i.e Ford Diamond white for a crisp white, Peugeot Alpine white for a bluey white, or Toyota White for a creamy white! White Primer is almost a piercing white, therefore not realistic at all! Then you can put the decals over the white paint, and then the lacquer over the decals.

I had the paint and the body out in the sun warming up before I used it. Allowed 30 mins between each coat. Used very light coats; after the 3rd coat, you could still see some primer.

2007年7月1日 · yeah i agree with green..that sand paper is waay to rough..you should work your way up to about 1500 grit..i used it when i was painting my lights. spray isnt the way to go..for mirrors and stuff it can turn out ok but when youre working with a big surface area like that youre just not gonna get an even coat like you would with a gun.
