2021年2月17日 · I drove a Hilux when I was stationed in Japan. It was a 2.0L 4-banger, it performed well enough, but I wouldn't have thought it was worth importing (even with the military assistance). My '04 Tacoma outperformed it in every way imaginable.

Just so everyone is aware, they good Hilux's (1999 and older) are importable, albeit with the 25% chicken tax added to purchase price. There's a few hundred in the states. Because we have the Tacoma. It fills the Hilux lineup in the US. Different countries often have different models based on what the market wants in those areas. For the US, we tend to like more rugged, aggressive looking vehicles. The Hilux is more sleek and streamlined, so the truck market wouldn't accept it nearly as much as they do the Taco.
