Tube Venting - GI motility disorders - Inspire
Sep 23, 2010 · I have a PEG/J tube and have been venting a lot of different colored liquids from it. Sorry I know this is gross, but if anyone has any ideas or experiences I would really appreciate hearing them. It has been over a month since I have been able to use my J tube because I am so constipated, but I am still able to vent through the PEG.

Generally any dark black or coffee ground looking stomach contents, whether vomited up or expelled out of a PEG tube, usually indicates bleeding in the upper GI tract. I worked as a GI RN for years and we always advised our patients to contact the physician right away if this ever happened.

Sep 30, 2012 · I had a PEG/J tube for 2 1/2 years and because it was a combo tube I never had a choice in the length, but in February I had a J tube and a seperate G tube placed along with a gastric pacemaker. I use the G tube strictly for venting my stomach and do not put anything in it.

Apr 1, 2010 · I agree with macbeth be proud of your battle wounds, my daughter has only ever had open sugerys due to small size and has a 7 centremetre scar running across the left side of the abdomen were she had a open jejunostomy and then another above it were they removed a blockage, she is due to have either a PEG or open gastrostomy on the 20th of april hopefully she will weight enough to have a PEG ...

Oct 17, 2011 · The g-tube is for venting only and its amazing! Before i started using it to vent i could barely have a sip of water because it made me so sick. Nov 19, 2015 · Hello, My 91-year old dad had a GJ tube put in 3 weeks ago due to aspirating all food into his lungs. He gets a lot of gas and reflux that he cannot tolerate the feeds into his J tube. He burps all day long and complains of pain in his belly.
Any Benefit to Adults "Venting" G-Tube? - Inspire
Apr 9, 2017 · Many adults here have a G-J tube, the J part to reduce symptoms in bypassing the stomach and the G part to vent the stomach for the reasons you mentioned above. 18 year old with idiopathic Gastroparesis, Venting g-tube?
Jun 28, 2009 · For years we gave up on the feeds, because I couldn't tolerate them, so I was on TPN and just had a g-tube to vent. I eventually went back to the GJ-tube, but now have 2 seperate tubes. Being able to vent my stomach defitly helps. I still stay nauseated and throw-up, but so much less if venting. You don't have to have a J-tube to have a G-tube.

The greenish colour is what indicates it is bile, as this is the colour of liver secretions. Normal stomach secretions are relatively clear, and pale straw coloured.
