Thanks to @justhockeytoronto I was able to test the @vaughncustomsports V10 pads for the thigh rise test. The pad did very well, especially compared to the SLR3 stock flex. Going to a stiffer above the knee certainly helps with stopping pucks through there and will increase the longevity of the pad itself. Thanks to @justhockeytoronto for letting me test out their @vaughncustomsports V10 pads! Vaughn made some huge improvements above the knee on the Velocity line to improve the core stiffness and the results can be seen here.
