For decades, mangroves in Vietnam have been cut down in favour of shrimp farming. Over time, as the mangroves disappeared, so did the biodiversity in that region. Soon, shrimp yields began declining. Moreover, as the coastline became more exposed, communities started to feel the brute force of storm surges and rising sea levels.
